Shedding: What to Expect (and How to Manage It)

As a natural wool product, some initial shedding and a slight odour are completely normal. Shedding occurs as loose surface fibres naturally work their way out as the rug settles. This will gradually reduce over time and is not a sign that anything is wrong with your rug. Any initial odour will also dissipate as the rug airs, leaving behind the cosy comfort wool is known for.

Tips to Reduce Shedding

• Vacuum regularly using suction only and a nozzle attachment. Avoid brushes or beaters, which can pull at the fibres and prolong shedding.
• Trim loose fibres carefully with scissors – never pull them.
• Blot spills gently with a damp white cloth. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing, as this can damage or break the fibres.
• Rotate your rug regularly for even wear.

Care

• Unroll and allow your rug to settle flat for up to 24 hours before use.
• Use an anti-slip underlay to help prevent movement and protect your rug and flooring.
• Keep your rug looking its best with regular gentle vacuuming using suction only and spot cleaning when needed.
• Avoid over-saturating the rug when cleaning.
